A MESSAGE FROM MATT COOK,
HEAD COACH OF THE BANGOR YMCA BARRACUDA SWIM TEAM
Born and raised in Bangor, Maine, I started swimming at the age
of 5 years old for The Bangor YMCA and fell in love with the sport.
Throughout high school and college, I worked as a lifeguard, swim
lesson instructor, and assistant coach for The Bangor YMCA, as well as
Bangor Parks and Rec, and the State of Maine as a waterfront guard.
From these experiences, I can unequivocally say that there is no better
way to spend a week in August, in Maine, than by the waterfront; it is
one of the most peaceful and energizing weeks you will ever experience!
Your child is invited to join us as we combine our love for swimming and our love for August in Maine at our Wilderness Center at Camp Jordan, located
along the shores of Branch Lake in Ellsworth. From the moment your swimmer checks-in with us at 1:00pm on Sunday to when they are picked up at 12:00pm on Saturday, the experience and memories they leave with will be something that lasts a lifetime!
